MicroRSS Description

MicroRSS is a free and easy-to-use Mac OS X desktop client for the Tiny Tiny RSS feed reader and aggregator. The application requires a Tiny Tiny RSS server and account credentials. What’s more, it offers a few additional visual and behavior options. In order to use MicroRSS, you will need to create or join an existing Tiny Tiny RSS server. Creating a server can be done by installing the source on the service’s homepage or by installing the official bitnami stack. Note that before being able to use the app, you need to check the “Enable API access” option in the preferences of the web version. After logging into your account, working with MicroRSS is just as easy as operating the Tiny Tiny RSS service in your favorite browser. The news feed names and categories are displayed on the left and the central pane displays the news item names and content. Furthermore, MicroRSS displays the articles based on the time they arrived (with the option to invert the order) and allows you to view only the unread or all items. What’s more, you can add articles to favorites or publish them with only a click. As soon as you select an article, it will be marked as read and the title will become grayed out. As far as updating news goes, you can select the refresh interval in the preferences, along with the article date style, feed visibility and feed sorting order. To conclude, MicroRSS is a flexible standalone client for the Tiny Tiny feed reader. Although it does not come with all the features included in the web-based version, MicroRSS is still quite customizable and works as advertised.
