PC James Bond 2009 Description

Editor's review: A Spy software to monitor all activity on a user’s computer. Pros: PC James Bond is a tool that can be used to log all activity that takes place on a given computer. This is done first and foremost through a series of screen snapshots taken at evenly spaced (and user-specifiable) intervals so that one can see exactly what was being done over time. It logs all keystrokes that have been typed along with a timestamp. All usernames and passwords are also recorded. A host of online activity logging functions including: recording of all emails sent and received, recording on instant messenger conversations and chat messages, and a record of all websites that have been visited over a given time period. Programs that are executed are recorded including the user (by Windows username) who ran the program, time, and how often it was used (by keystrokes and mouse movements). Documents that are opened through the program and otherwise will be recorded automatically and text contents of Word and text files that have been typed are also recorded. All clipboard content and access (cut, copy, paste) is recorded. Reports can be viewed through the intuitive interface, and can be exported to HTML format. Cons: The concern first and foremost is one of privacy. There is no doubt that this product can be misused. The fact that it runs with a given user of the computer being unaware is actually a negative point because this is a violation of that user’s privacy. In the case of a portable computer such as a laptop this becomes even more of a concern. This is of course a general problem with all such tools. As for the interface it is fairly intuitive and decent looking. However, the installed version of the product actually said “POWER Spy” and not “PC James Bond”. Some customization is possible but it requires some effort to get the hang of how to get things to work as desired. Overall: 3 stars. It works, but that in itself is a concern because in the wrong hands this is a dangerous thing. The installed interface runs under a different name. Publisher's description:
