MailSniffer Description

MailSniffer will intercept all e-mail traffic on the protocol level, and will index all incoming messages. The other important feature MailSniffer has is to help you conduct searches in the indexed email messages.. Regardless of the mail client you are using, the program has access to all the letters recieved or sent from the computer where it is installed. MailSniffer is based on SearchInform search system, which provides it with the capacity to search as well as manage all electronic mail both on the administrator's and user's level. MailSniffer is a resident program, which tracks all incoming and outgoing electronic messages, if they are sent with the help of mail clients using POP3 and SMTP protocols. MailSniffer doesn't depend on the work of mail clients themselves, so it doesn't matter whether you are using Outlook, The Bat, Thunderbird or any other client. All messages are copied into MailSniffer's database and then indexed. The following full text search is conducted in that very database. Even if an indexed letter has been deleted from the mail client, its contents, duplicated into MailSniffer's databse, will still be available for search. Since MailSniffer is a corporate tool, which has a client-server architecture and supports work with the local netwrok. MailSniffer Server gets installed on the mail server (computer, through which the company's traffic passes), since it's the server version of the program that has the capacity to intercept mail traffic. The client version can only conduct search in the indexes mounted to it. A regularly updated database, containing all the letters intercepted and indexed by the program, is also located on the server. Installing SearchInform Server with a mounted MailSniffer's index is a nesessary condition for such system to function. Client versions of MailSniffer get installed on remote (client) computers, which are to have the ability to search in the database of letters. They, in turn, get connected to SearchInform Server with mounted database index.
