EtherChange Description

EtherChange is a lightweight tool designed to help you change the Ethernet or MAC address of your network card. There is a large number of reasons why you would need to do this and most of them are Internet access related. The MAC address of a network device is meant to be its unique identifier and someone can use it to steal your online identity or grant that person access to the Internet. EtherChange is a Command Prompt utility that doesn’t display a graphic user interface. To be able to use it, you have to rely on certain commands that you need give in order for it to do its job. Even so, EtherChange isn’t a hard tool to use. First off, you need to run it with Administrator privileges as it needs to make changes to the system. Afterwards, EtherChange can be run by simply dragging the application over the Command Prompt environment and releasing it. With a press of the ‘Enter’ key it shows you a list of actions that you can undertake in order to make the needed modifications. When run, the application displays a numbered list that allows you to choose the action you want to take by simply typing in the corresponding option number. It’s a very simple procedure that anyone can succeed in doing provided they have the basic knowledge about changing a MAC address. EtherChange lists all the network adapters that you have connected to your computer and after you select the one you want to modify, you simply have to type in the new ethernet address in HEX form, without the separators that normally exist. In closing, despite the absence of a graphic user interface, EtherChange is by all means a simple to use tool that offers you what you need to change the ethernet address of network adapter.
