Time lapse videos are great so if you are looking to achieve the same effect using images with your desktop applications, Screenlapse can prove quite useful. Note that Screenlapse will only periodically capture screenshots with a specific window open on your desktop and saves them to a folder of your choice. You will have to process the images further using other apps to create animations or time lapse videos. Screenlapse comes with a very simple and organized user interface: on the left you can view all your opened windows while on the right you can view a thumbnail with their content and launch the capture process. The application is able to provide the size and the name of the host application for each window. If you are dealing with a Finder window that contains a folder, you will see the directory path. However, when the window contains a single file, you will only see the document name. To make sure Screenlapse detects the latest changes applied to your windows layout, you can press the refresh button placed on the bottom of the Preview panel. Working with Screenlapse is extremely intuitive: select the window you want to record and press the “Capture” button from the bottom of the app’s main window. You will be prompted for the output location and then Screenlapse will start generating JPG files (the file name will include the capture date and time). Screenlapse allows you to adjust the capture time interval via the Options menu: 1, 5, 10, 15, 20, 30 or 60 seconds. At the same time, if you select all the windows (using the Options menu or the Command + A hotkey), Screenlapse is able to capture all your windows in a simple image (make sure that none of them are hidden). To sum up, Screenlapse is a great application if you want to take timed screenshots of your apps windows and then use them to create time lapse animations.
