Gifted Description

Gifted is a minimalist and no-frills OS X application designed to make it simple to convert your videos to lightweight animated GIF files with a simple mouse click. In order to start converting a video file to a GIF, you will first have to select it within Gifted by either drag and dropping it onto the app’s window, or by clicking the drag and drop area and selecting it from within your Mac’s Finder. Once you choose the movie you want to encode, all that remains to do is to click the “Start” button. After the conversion process is over, Gited will automatically open a Finder window with the location of the output GIF. If you want to see how the GIF looks like, you can use the OS X Quick Look feature by pressing the SPACE key to preview the animation. Although while tested Gifted converted all the video file formats it supports (namely MP4, MOV and AVI) perfectly, the simple and straightforward interface means that the app has its shortcomings. For instance, you cannot customize the size or the quality level for the output GIF, which means that the resulting animation will have a pre-defined size and the overall quality will not be very high. Furthermore, you will not be able to customize the output folder, an insignificant problem because Gifted will instantly open it for you once the conversion process is over. The problem is that the folder where the app saves all output animations is named “Gifted.app” and, thus, you will not be able to browse its contents in the Finder if you do not use the “Show Package Contents” contextual menu entry. Fortunately, excluding all of the little drawbacks presented above, Gifted works flawlessly and will make it easier than ever before to quickly generate a GIF out of your videos for speedy sharing over the web.
