libcap is a free and open source library software that has been designed to gather and set up POSIX 1003.1e (previously known as POSIX 6) draft 15 capabilities on a Linux-based operating system. libcap (also known as Linux Capabilities) has been designed as an alternative to the existing superuser (root) model of privilege under Linux distributions. This Linux capability implementation is based on an obsolete draft specification that has been designed for several UN*X security extensions and it is available at http://wt.tuxomania.net/publications/posix.1e/download.html
