Zippo (formerly Zipper) Description

Zippo, which was previously known as Zipper, is a simple software program that was developed specifically to aid people in packing their files and folders into ZIP archives and comes with support for password protection and multiple methods of compression. User-friendly GUI The interface you come across is quite minimalistic and it consist of a small window, a few buttons and drop-down menus, and a pane in which to display all uploaded items. Although there are no Help contents, it becomes pretty obvious that it is suitable to both power and novice users. Choose a method of compression and encrypt your archives As stated above, Zippo bundles a few methods of compression, namely “Deflate” and “BZip2.” The first comes with nine different levels which enable you to choose faster manners of packing items or better ways of compressing. In addition to that, you can select one of the many types of encodings provided with the help of a drop-down menu, as well as choose a “PKZip,” “WinZipAES128” or “WinZipAES256” encryption algorithm and input your password with just a few clicks. Add comments and create self-extracting packages It is possible to append comments to archives, adjust buffering configurations (it is recommended that only advanced users to tweak these) and choose the output extension from a pretty long list (e.g. ZIP, CHM, EXE, Z01 etc.). Last but not least, you can easily convert a simple ZIP to a split or self-extracting one. The “drag and drop” feature is not supported, seeing that you can only upload directories and other items with a file browser. A final assessment The app does not require a large amount of resources in order to run properly and the response time is good. The interface is accessible to all and our tests did not reveal any kind of errors, crashes or freezes. All things considered, Zippo is a handy piece of software which lets you create ZIP archives from your files and folders, and comes packed with many useful features.
