WSP Listener Description

This package provides a super easy installation of WSP files on different servers in your OTAP environments. The WSP listener is now a document library with an event receiver attached. If a new zip file with wsp and wsp.config file is uploaded to this library, the installation starts. The installation extracts the zip file to a temporary local folder, reads the wsp.config and installs the WSP to the proper web application(s). The next steps are required to install the WSP Listener solution: 1. Copy the WSP file to a local folder on your SharePoint environment (for example c:\temp) 2. Install the solution with the stsadm command ‘stsadm –o addsolution –filename “c:\temp\WSPListenerSolution.wsp’ 3. Deploy the solution with the stsadm command ‘stsadm –o deploysolution –name WSPListenerSolution.wsp –immediate –allowgacdeployment’ ( the wsp contains two assemblies that will be installed in the GAC ) 4. Do an IISReset 5. Activate the site collection feature ‘WSP Listener Install Feature’ in the site collection where you want to use the WSP Listener document library (I recommend the central administration). 6. The WSP Listener is installed. You should now see two lists in your site collection: - WSP Listener document library; this is where the zip files need to be uploaded to - WSP Listener settings; this is the place where you can modify the default settings
