SEscree Description

SEscree is a standalone Windows application that quantifies the visual scree test to determine the number of factors to retain in exploratory factor analysis. The eigenvalues from a principal components analysis should be entered in order. That is, from largest to smallest. There will be as many eigenvalues as there were variables in the analysis. Each eigenvalue is followed by Return to move to the next row. Thus, there are as many rows as there are eigenvalues. There can be no other characters, including such invisible ones as spaces, tabs, etc. in the data. Up to 99 eigenvalues can be accommodated. Eigenvalue can be copied from an Excel spreadsheet or SPSS output and pasted into the data field or they can be directly typed into the data field
