Port Tester Description

Port Tester is a simple Java-based application whose sole purpose is to test online connectivity for specific ports. It mainly caters to network administrators. Since this is a Java-based utility, Port Tester does not come with a setup pack. In other words, you can drop the program files to any location on the hard disk and run the JAR file immediately. It is also possible to move the app to a USB flash disk or similar storage unit, in order to run it on any workstation, provided that it has Java installed. An important aspect to mention is that the Windows Registry area does not receive new entries, and leftover files do not remain on the hard disk after removing the program. The graphical interface of Port Tester is made from a standard window with a plain and simple layout, where the "what you see is what you get" concept clearly applies, as there are no other options available, aside from the ones visible in the primary panel. All you have to do is write an IP address or domain name in the dedicated dialog and run the test with the simple click of a button. Port Tester shows up to 10 ports. It is also possible to reset the fields and perform the benchmark again for a different IP address or domain name. There are no other settings provided by this tool. Port Tester uses a moderate quantity of CPU and RAM, has a good response time to commands, and finishes tests swiftly and without errors. We have not come across any issues in our evaluation, since the app did not hang or crash. Thanks to its intuitive layout and overall simplicity, Port Tester should please the entire audience.
