Ping Range Description

Ping Range is a network tool that helps you ping a certain range of IP addresses and identify the devices that are connected. It can be used on local networks in order to detect the used IP addresses. The main purpose of the program is to scan for devices that are connected to a network and to obtain details such as their network name or the MAC address. The application performs this task by sending data packets to each device and listing the ones that respond. In order to perform a scan you need to enter a list of IP addresses and the program has three ways to do it. You can ping a single address, a range of IP addresses by entering the first and the last IP or you can create a BAT file that can be executed independently from the program. When you need to ping a single computer you just need to enter the IP address or the host name. When you do not know the exact IP address you can ping a larger number of IP addresses by entering the IP range that you want to be verified. The program pings them one by one and displays the results in the main window. The program also includes a Batch Wizard that creates a BAT file with a list of ping commands that is run in command prompt mode. This method has the advantage of being faster but it does not display information about the MAC address or the host name. Besides that, this method does not support exporting of the results. You can export the results of the search that include the IP address, the MAC address and the hostname or each computer or device. An activity report that displays all the addresses that were contacted and details about the response can also be generated. The reports are saved as CSV or text files in order to keep track of your work. Ping Range is a very compact tool (less than 1 MB) and can be easily copied to a USB drive in order to be used on another computer. You can use it at home to check your wireless connection for unauthorized devices or at work to identify the devices connected to a DHCP server.
