POP3 Mail Retriever Description

I needed to automate the download of certain files by email. Lucky for me, the Exchange server I needed to hit supported the POP3 mail protocol that almost everybody uses. This is how POP3, a very generic tool, was born. You can run it standalone, or you can automate it via Windows Scripting, DOS batch files, or any VBA client! In Windows mode (which is what you get if you just run the program), you will be asked for your password if you didn't fill it in. However, it is crucial that you supply ALL needed information before running in DOS or scripting modes. If you get error messages about missing or improperly registered files, just scroll on down to the installation section to find out how to get whatever it is you are missing. The messages are left on the server (so you can view them later with your main mail program) unless you specifically delete them. Help (just reminders, actually) are available from Windows via the menu, and from DOS by typing POP3 ? This program was written to allow messages to be automatically retrieved from POP3 mail servers using Windows Scripting or DOS batch programs. This program DOES NOT try to be a mail viewer. I allow you to pick an extension (txt, mim, etc.) to view your mail in. I expect your system should already have a viewer that can display at least one of these formats reasonably well. Don't complain if you find the GUI a little awkward. The GUI is a convenience feature. Scripting and batch are where the work is supposed to be done.
