Null Logics Windows Service Commander Description

Null Logics Windows Service Commander is a simple, yet useful tool designed to help you easily access and manage Windows services. The program provides you with a user friendly interface, allowing you to view a complete list of the available services, even the stopped ones. The list is displayed in a table form, where you can view the service name, the corresponding description, its status and the startup type. You can start a stopped service or stop a running one with just a click. Moreover, the program offers you the possibility to analyze and edit the service properties: the display name, the description, the path to the executable file and the startup type are characteristics that can be changed by the user. The 'Properties' window offers more options than when you open it from the standard 'Component Services' window. For example, you can choose to log on from a Local or Network Service account, set the load order, as well as select the severity of detected errors. While in the standard Service properties window you have only three possible computer responses if a service fails, Null Logics Windows Service Commander allows you to add as many as you want. The same happens with the detected dependencies. Also, this program offers you the possibility to set the user permissions for a service, while the standard Windows services manager does not. In addition to this, users can install a new service by following the steps in the in-built wizard. The new service can be customized as you want: you can change its name, description, logon information, dependencies and so on. On the other side, you can also delete an existing service, which is really useful if you have identified one that might be installed by a spyware program to monitor user activity. Null Logics Windows Service Commander is a viable alternative to using the classic Component Services manager in Windows. Nevertheless, it should be used only by advanced users that know how running services and processes affect their computer. Reviewed by Mihaela Citea, last updated on April 9th, 2012
