Jet-MIDI Description

From COWON System : COWON's Wavetable MIDI Synthesizer is now available in "software only". What this means is that Jet-MIDI makes it possible for computers to playback MIDI data with higher sound quality than ever before without a dedicated hardware MIDI tone generator. Jet-MIDI provides state-of-the-art wavetable emulation, allowing concert-quality MIDI sound through as small as a 16-bit soundcard. Neophytes will find that Jet-MIDI is extremely simple and logical to understand, while more advanced users will love Jet-MIDI's flexibility, power, and utility. COWON Jet-MIDI consists of a MIDI Synthesizer driver for Windows, MIDI player, and MIDI Mixer. You can enjoy high-quality music immediately after the installation, since 7 sample songs and a MIDI player are included in this program. Jet-MIDI supports General MIDI, a 64-note polyphony, playback in CD-quality 44.1 kHz stereo, reverb and chorus effects, built-in MIDI player, built-in MIDI mixer, and key control. The MIDI Player supports 3 display types, various play modes (Normal/Random/Program), time modes, and repeat play. There is also a Track-intro Scan function, which will play the first few measures of every song. The MIDI Mixer gives you total control over the output of your music, while providing a very intuitive interface. As an instrument plays, an indicator light flashes, aiding in determining which effects on which voices will produce the most pleasing music. A default value for volume, balance, reverb, and echo make customization unnecessary for users who simply want to hear their music, but for advanced users,Jet-MIDI provides the flexibility to tweak the most minute setting. Tracks can be heard individually by choosing "Solo" button next to the track number. Or use the "Mute" button to subdue a specific instrument or track. A one-button "All Tracks On" button is located at the bottom of the mixer panel to turn off all solos and mutes. You can change an instrument on a track by clicking on the eighth note button corresponding to that track and selecting a new voice. For example, you can produce the sound of blaring herald trumpets, or the mellow sounds of a flute choir, using the same MIDI file.
