Besides MP3, the program gives you access to a range of codecs to convert the tracks to the format you are most comfortable with. The MP3 converter uses the LAME codec, one of the most well known one. It comes with the program, you do not have to locate and get it from somewhere else. The program will take care of playlist files of PLS and M3U formats. The program will take care of normalization, so that all the tracks play at the same audio level. The publishers claim to have jitter control built in to produce better output quality. When converting you can fill in complete details about a track, or anything missing in them, through access to CDDB online database. The tool supports the WAV, OGG, VQF, APE formats in addition to the MP3. You would be able to do transcoding of compressed formats through this tool. You would be able to record inputs through the line-in. While that gives you the capability to get even the vinyls and cassettes that you have in your collection, the tool does not have any filtering/noise removal features that can clean up noisy recording from these media.
