Find Any File Description

Advertisement Find Any File is a System Utilities software developed by Thomas Tempelmann. After our trial and test, the software is proved to be official, secure and free. Here is the official description for Find Any File: Why Find Any File if there's already Spotlight? Because Spotlight does not find all files - it does not look into certain Folders that were specified to "Privacy", for instance. Spotlight also might not find on remote volumes. Find Any File, on the other hand, searches any disk. And if it's a Mac OS formatted disk (HFS) even when located on a remote (networked) Mac OS X computer, it is very fast in its search, i.e. much faster as, for instance, the popular EasyFind application. Features Find Any File has a few hidden gems: 1. If you HOLD the Option key down while choosing Find, you are asked for an administrator password - and then Find Any File will restart with root permissions, being able to find really any file on your Mac's volumes (something that Spotlight won't do). Note that this will only work on local disks, not on network mounts, though. 2. It sports a new hierarchical view for the found items. You can switch to it using Command-2 or click on the right little icon at the top of the results window. The above search revealed hundreds of hits. If you'd look at that many results in a flat list, it would be hard to browse. With this new hierarchical view, however, you can directly look for the results in the folders that Interest you. 3. You can save your entered searches to files (they'll have the extension ".faf"). You can later open them again from within the Find Any File application, or you can double click them in the Finder - in the latter case the search will automatically start, unless you hold down the Option key while Find Any File opens the document.
