Convert SQL to Excel is a handy and reliable utility that targets users in need of a speedy tool, able to export SQL tables to Excel format. It addresses users with previous knowledge of SQL and needs an active connection to a SQL server in order to carry out the conversion tasks successfully. The first advantage of the program is that it doesn’t require installation, because it comes inside a portable package. You can transfer it on a removable drive and launch it on any computer without writing to the registry. As far as the appearance is concerned, Convert SQL to Excel is not all that impressive, but it is intuitive and easy to use. First and foremost, you need to enter the name of the server and press the ‘Connect’ button. If the connection is successful, the program automatically retrieves a list of the databases stored inside it, which you can explore with the aid of a dropdown menu. In the next step, you have to possibilities: either choose a table from the selected database or write a custom SQL statement that can retrieve more specific data. All that remains to be done after this is to write the path for the output file (you cannot browse to it, unfortunately) and to press the ‘Convert’ button. Overall, the utility behaves decently, although it needs improvements in several areas.
