CAM UnZip Description

CAM UnZip has been designed to make ZIP creation, modification, and extraction as easy to use as possible. You can view and modify the contents of a ZIP archive without having to extract its files and create a new one – just drag and drop onto the list of files as many items as you wish to add or delete those you’re not interested in any more, and CAM UnZip will modify the archive’s table of contents straight away. Distributed free of charge for personal use, you will need to buy a license if you want to use it for commercial purposes. Functionality-wise, you will only miss the possibility of creating self-extracting archives if you hang to the free version of the program. Other than that, and the presence of a special offers box, there's not much difference between the two versions. Feel free to donate, however, if you want to support the developer. It is a pity that ZIP is the only archive file format that this free tool can work with. Its ease of use and its high level of flexibility and interactivity are assets that various other (free) archive managers share with CAM UnZip, and its one-format support is a serious drawback when trying to compete with free tools such as PeaZip or open-source developments such as 7-zip. The interface design, though functional enough, is a bit on the lame side when compared to others in the same league. Besides, and unlike similar tools, it offers no context-menu integration, so you need to open the program and load the ZIP file in question to enjoy its flexible functionality. On the pros side, however, is the program’s portability – CAM UnZip can be launched from any external source without installation. The great thing about CAM UnZip is surely that it allows you to work with the files packed in a ZIP archive just as if you were viewing them in your standard file manager. You can select any file and delete it with the Supr button or the Delete option in the context menu, just as you’d normally do. You can add files to the archive using drag-and-drop or the Add Files to Archive tab in the program’s interface. You can extract selected files only to the folder of your choice, re-creating the original folders if you wish. This is all the functionality you need to manage your ZIPs, and it’s so easy to apply that it makes you forget you’re dealing with archive files. Regrettably, this simplicity is not exclusive to this tool and CAM UnZip is not the only cost-free tool available to manage ZIP files. Unless this is the only archive file format you’ll be using, I advise you to check other possibilities, as there are plenty of archive managers with multi-format support out there.
