winMd5Sum Description
An MD5 checksum is a hexadecimal number that consists of 32 characters and which is computed on a file. It has been developed to check the data integrity of a file. Thus, if two files have the same MD5 checksum value, then they are identical. winMd5Sum is a tool developed to help you calculate and compare these values. For example, this type of application can come to your aid when you want to check the integrity of a downloaded file. If the MD5 checksum value of the downloaded item is the same as the one from the website, then you know for a fact the file is not corrupted. The interface of the tool is based on a standard window where you can use either the file browser or "drag and drop" method to import a file for analysis. The MD5 checksum value can be observed underneath the file path. So, all you have to do is copy and paste the MD5 checksum of a secondary item and set the tool to compare these values; a message pops up and informs you if they are equal or different. The simple-to-use program requires a very low amount of CPU and system memory. It has a good response time and quickly compares two MD5 checksums. We have not come across any issues throughout our testing; winMd5Sum did not freeze, crash or pop up error dialogs. However, the tool has limited functions.
