txtselect was developed as Python-based tool that applies a simple SQL query (without joins) to a tab-separated-value text file. The application features a simple Command-Line interface. The software can be used if, for example, you want to determine the total population for each U.S. state, and you have a file where each line has a county name, the state name, and county population, separated by tabs.
