progeCAD 2008 Standard IntelliCAD Description

Editor's review: progeCAD is built on IntelliCAD product and handles AutoCAD DWG files. It has AutoCAD compatible commands, menu, script, fonts and even AutoLISP compatibility. Pros: progeCAD is positioned as a replacement for AutoCAD a much more expensive general computer aided drawing and drafting product. The product is built on the IntelliCAD Cad platform. For this purpose it can not only handle DWG file, the drawing format supported industry wide, but has compatible commands, menus & controls, scripts, fonts down to AutoLISP level. So the application can not only handle the basic CAD drawings but retains the familiarity many people have with the user interaction with the AutoCAD. Several other conveniences available are capability to work with images, edit capabilities of raster images, redlining and mark up of DWG drawings through the DWG viewer and a library of 10,000 blocks & symbols. The library has industry specific symbols for Architectural, mechanics, electro mechanics, Oleodynamics and Pneumatics industry segments. ACIS 3D modeling core also is included to help with solid modeling. Express tools are a set of quick access tools for common operations. Several convenience and customization options make working with progeCAD quite simple. One can display and rearrange the toolbars, the command bar and enable/disable the status bar as is convenient for the operator. The command bar and the tool bar could be floated anywhere on the screen space or docked to the edges of the working area. Customization starts with setting preferences, customizing menus and toolbars, the keyboard, creating shorter aliases for frequently used commands, use of scripts and use of add on programs with the progeCAD. Help documentation provided is quite good. Cons: No shortcomings noticed. Takes a little learning time, but then it is for specialized work. Overall a well designed application, fairly easy to use and learn; particularly for people familiar with AutoCAD. This application certainly rates 4 stars. Publisher's description:
