nzb Description

nzb is a small Windows application whose purpose is to help you download, decode and stream NZB files, which are XML-based items used for retrieving posts from NNTP (Usenet) servers. User interface nzb sports a clean and simplistic layout that integrates only a few features that you can work with. Several configuration settings are hidden under its hood but they are not difficult to tweak. Additional information is displayed in the main window about the loaded NZB file, such as subject, progress, parts and size. Plus, you can check out details about the thread, status and speed and opt for multi-threaded NZB streaming. There’s no support for a help manual included in the package but the layout looks pretty much intuitive so you can decode the function of each parameter in a short amount of time. Several configuration settingsnzb gives you the possibility to start or stop the process, stream the current file, as well as use nzb.ini configuration settings or manually provide information about the host, port, authentication parameters (username and password), and number of connections (you need to restart the program in order to activate this particular feature). What’s more, you are allowed to sort and scroll the NZB list, automatically skip PAR files, choose the saving directory and store data in subfolders, guess album/artist/title from name, as well as specify the EXE file for the external media player. Bottom lineTo sum things up, nzb integrates a handy suite of features for helping you grab, decode and stream NZB files using straightforward actions. On the downside, it hasn’t been updated for a while so it may cause compatibility issues on newer operating systems. Reviewed by Ana Marculescu, last updated on October 22nd, 2014
