iCloud Control Panel for Windows Description

EditBy The iCloud Control Panel is required to use Photo Stream, Contacts and Calendars (Microsoft Outlook 2007 or later required). Monitor and manage your iCloud storage through Vista and Windows 7 with this free applet. If you’ve updated your iPhone, iPod or iPad to iOS 5, you’ll no doubt be aware of the existence of iCloud, Apple’s online storage service. But the FACT that you are using an iOS device need not necessarily mean that you are dedicated to the cult of Mac, and it is entirely possible that you are using a PC as well. If this is the case, iCloud Control Panel for Windows is what you need to stay in control of your storage account. The utility, as the name suggest, does install as a Control Panel applet, but it can also be accessed through the notification area of the taskbar in Vista and Windows 7. With a couple of clicks, the app enables you to monitor the amount of storage space you have available – the 5GB provided free of charge may seem like quite a lot to start with, but once you start to synchronize photos and files, it’s surprising how quickly this can be eaten. While Mac users need to do little more than ensure that their copy of Lion is completely up to date, Windows users need to download this app to make it easier to manage their iCloud account away from their iOS device from the comfort of an application. iCloud Control Panel for Windows can also be used to configure how your photos should be uploaded and downloaed. Windows XP users are left out in the cold – the app is only available or Vista and Windows 7 – as are users of browsers other than Safari or Internet Explorer. These are the only web browser that are supported when it comes to synchronizing bookmarks, and if you want to synchronize your contacts, calendars and tasks, you will need to have a copy of Outlook 2007 or 2010 installed.
