gMote Description
gMote is a very useful piece of software that can help you create and assign mouse gestures to various actions, such as opening a program or website. This type of tool can prove reliable for busy users who are accustomed to working with numerous applications at the same time, as it can considerably improve efficiency. The tool is wrapped in a clean interface with an intuitive layout where you can check out the default set of gestures and test or reconfigure them. Recording a new gesture can be done by drawing it with the mouse; you can select multiple programs in which you can use a specific gesture, as well as establish the default action for all of them. So, you can navigate back or forward in the web browser, pause the media player, open Windows Explorer, undo an action, maximize the current window, open a folder, activate a key combination or load a program, just to name a few possible actions for mouse gestures. They are active while gMote is running. It is also possible to minimize the app to the system tray. From the 'Options' screen you can select the way to activate the mouse gesture (e.g. hold down the right button and drag the mouse), change the default gesture trail color, display information on recognized or unrecognized gestures, enable a timeout, switch to a different language for the interface and make the app automatically run at system startup. The tool needs a moderate amount of system resources, has a good response time and includes user documentation. However, you must move the mouse at a slow pace when performing a gesture, in order for gMote to recognize it. All in all, gMote is an effective tool for speeding up navigation on your computer.
