extcv Description

extcv proposes a simple solution to TrueCrypt users. It allows them to expand a volume without having to format it first. Apart from TrueCrypt, it does not require any installation, which makes it almost portable. No installation necessary besides TrueCryptYou can extract the program files to a custom location on the disk and just click the executable to launch extcv. Another possibility is to copy it to a pen drive or other removable storage unit, in order to run it on any PC with minimum effort. An important factor worth taking into account is that it does not create new entries in the Windows registry or extra files on the disk without your permission, thus leaving the HDD clean after removal. Simple interface and intuitive optionsThe GUI is user-friendly, represented by a regular window with a plain and simple structure, where you can select a TrueCrypt volume and partition or device after studying their drive letters, sizes and labels, and click a button to expand it. It is possible to enter the new volume size (in KB, MB or GB) and fill new space with random data. During the task you can view the volume, file system, current and new size, new space filling status, a progress bar, completed percent, speed, and remaining time, along with the random pool. Evaluation and conclusionThere were no kind of issues throughout our testing, since extcv did not hang, crash or pop up error messages. It carries out a volume expansion job swiftly while remaining light on system resources. Although it is not necessarily attractive, extcv delivers a fast and effective method to expanding volumes built with TrueCrypt without formatting.
