eXChange Description

As a CAD/CAM user you'll often need to be able to exchange design data with others. Unfortunately, other people don't always have the same CAD/CAM system as you. This means that you often need to convert your data between different formats. With Delcam Exchange you will be able to achieve these conversions quickly and easily. Delcam Exchange can read and write a number of different file formats. These include the international standard formats, such as IGES and STEP, and proprietary formats, such as Delcam's DGK format and CATIA fic files. Not only can Delcam Exchange translate between these different formats, but it also allows you to control the translation process so as to ensure you obtain the maximum amount of information possible. For example, different formats may handle trimmed surface data in different ways, Delcam Exchange can understand several of these schemes and you can select which is the best for your data. As well as straight file format conversions, if you use Delcam Exchange's graphical interface you can select which entities from the input file will be translated into the output file. This can be useful, for example, if you are only interested in a small component which has been sent to you in a single file with the rest of a larger assembly.
