Zac Browser Gold is an Air-based web browser designed specifically for children with autism where they can watch interactive videos, play games and carry out various activities using just a few clicks of the mouse or screen touch (if available).User interfaceSince it was designed specifically for children, Zac Browser Gold delivers an intuitive and clean environment. The tool runs in a full screen mode, so kids can focus solely on the virtual playground. When you open up the browser, you are welcomed by an animated aquarium with colorful fish and underwater plants, while music is played in the background. Plus, you can drop food on the desired screen areas from the aquarium in order to feed the fish. There are several handy and suggestive icons placed at the bottom of the main window from where you can access several categories, such as Aquarium, Television, Games, Music, Stories, Activities, Zap Apps and Surprise. Exploring the virtual playgroundYou given the freedom to watch several videos which are organized in different categories, such as Animals, Art & Crafts, Cartoon, Comedy, Discovery, Education, Television, and others. Games and audio files are simply listed in the main panel, and you can browse throughout the entire collection using forward and back buttons. Audio files include animated scenes and reveal the lyrics so children can sing the songs with ease. The built-in stories are actually audio books where users are invited to participate in by choosing between several ideas/objects. The configuration panel is quite poor and enables you to toggle on or off the animated background and pick the language of the application. PerformanceThe program takes a lot of time to load music, games, stories and videos, and sometimes it crashes. It eats up CPU and memory, so the overall performance of the computer may be hampered.
