Wowd is a new concept in the world of search engines. Unlike more established ones, Wowd does not have a data center or information about indexes, searching habits, etc., centralized on any server. In fact, the information on what is more searched and what is “hot on the Internet” comes directly from the users’ searching habits. Therefore, when you install the full version of Wowd on your computer, all the interactions you take with this search engine will change the way Wowd searches for stuff. When you install the application, what you get basically is a locally run website in your browser, where you can perform searches and find out new trends on the Internet according to the information rendered by other users. The application has some other nice features, such as a net meter and one-click sharing functionality, which allows you to share your results on Twitter and other social networks with just a click of a button. It all sounds very nice - you are contributing to the results other users get and what you like will be reflected in other searches. However, there have been some concerns about the privacy of users' interactions with the system. To compensate that, the program includes some nice filters to avoid getting results you do not want.
