WinGrep Description

WinGrep is a tool that supports grep syntax and is designed to help you search for plain data sets that match regular expressions. Grep stands for ‘globally search a regular expression and print’ and with this application you are able to analyze syntax styles and save sets of directories. It displays a comprehensive interface with a tabbed layout that enables you to easily start a search. To begin a new task, you first have to type in the content you want to look for, set minimum and maximum lengths, as well as age. Afterwards you select the file you want to scan and then click the ‘Search’ button. Since the task at hand can be affected by a certain amount of factors, WinGrep enables you to ignore cases, accents and only focus on ASCII and ANSI files. You can also select the type of search, between plain, simple and regular expression. Moreover, with this application it is possible to display lines and multi-lines as well as the filename and path. The results are then displayed in a separate tab, along with an indicator of the time it takes for the application to locate what you are looking for. When it comes to searching for text using regular expression syntax, WinGrep provides a wide range of special characters that you can use. Also, you are allowed to define macros that work independent of the active search.
