Even though it has been almost a decade since its last update, WCPUID can still be considered a practical application. Mainly because it does the job it was created to do: analyze your computer and display CPU information. Secondly, because it was designed back in the day when a straightforward and comprehensive interface was the way to go. Before getting into the details of what it can do, it’s best to note that its last update was in 2004 so it might not work on Windows versions newer than XP. The main window of the WCPUID displays basic system information such as the processor class and platform, the vendor string, CPU type, family and model, available memory as well as the internal and system clock frequencies. Using the application you can also view cache, chipset and system information in separate windows with more details. WCPUID can also display a list of existing devices on your computer. The utility has a built-in screen capture tool that enables you to save the displayed information as Bitmap images. You can also copy the text information to the Windows Clipboard and insert it into any text document. Using these two features, you can easily make reports and keep track of system performance. Except for the CPU clock, WCPUID does not offer real time monitoring for the entire system but there are custom keyboard commands that you can use to reanalyze the system and update the displayed info.
