Vortex Prestige Description

Vortex Prestige is an application designed to make any Windows XP machine look like it is running Windows Vista, changing most visual elements, including logon screens, icons, fonts and themes. You won't find the application too difficult to use, but a detailed help manual with some valuable information on each of its features would be great. Before using it it's recommend to make a backup, just to be sure you're on the safe side as the changes it makes to the system can cause it to malfunction. The interface is organized in pages, so you can pick the modifications you want to apply quite easily. The modifications can be done with a couple of clicks, by simply checking the box corresponding to each feature you want to activate or deactivate. The first page comes with changes regarding explorer.exe, Control Panel files, Logonui.exe, Outlook files and boot screen, while the second page brings a bunch of extras in the form of Vista themes, fonts, screensaver, sounds, cursor and user icons. In addition, you can apply the Vista wallpapers, a Windowsblinds theme and some special software skins for Winamp, Mediaplyer and Firefox. The third and the last page is the one that holds the add-ons, so you can enable the Vista Driver, the sidebar, the Vista start button, a transparent bar, the visual task tips, a so-called TopDesk 3D feature and L Clock. Just hit the apply button and you're ready to rumble. If everything goes okay, you should now be ready to see a completely modified operating system similar to the nice looking Windows Vista. Uninstalling the package might be a bit risky because it could leave some unnecessary files on your computer, but it could also break down some Windows visual elements, so that's why we said a bit earlier that it's better to make a backup. All in all, if you're into Windows customization, be sure to give this one a try as it may prove a nice addition. Reviewed by Bogdan Popa, last updated on November 19th, 2012
