Universal Watchdog Description

Universal Watchdog is a program to check devices in an ip-network. It uses the ICMP protocol to send ping-packages to these devices. All devices which have their own unique ip-adress can be checked. For example: routers, switches, PCs, accesspoints, bridges and so on. Depending on the result of the "ping" you can configure several alerts (acustical/optical alerts or warnings via e-mail). On responding PCs you can also check the existance or nonexistance of files. With this feature you can check the state in which a server is at the moment. I.e: A server starts a backup procedure and creates at start of the backup a file named BACKUP in its temporary directory. Universal Watchdog can sense the existance of this file and send an e-mail to the administrator of this machine. The mailtext could read "Backup on server started". When the backup is complete the server would delete the file BACKUP. Again Universal Watchdog would sense the nonexistance of that file and would send another e-mail to the administrator. This time the mailtext would read: "Backup on server complete". Limitations: ■ 30 day trial
