Training Manager Standard Description

Editor's review: This application lets you track your training records, requirements and compliance. Personnel transcripts, status reports, training schedules etc are some of the reports one can get. Lets you assign training to an individual, group, or job role with retraining being scheduled based on time, version, or one time only. Pros: Training Manager manages all aspects related to the training function of an organization. The whole activity begins from the skill matrix created of employees and then designing required courses after gaps in competence is identified. These courses can be for a department/group, designed for a specific individual or for a job role as defined in the organization’s job role descriptions. Scheduling can then happen after the trainees have been identified. Training courses assigned to each such employee and whether the course needs to be repeated at the end of a specified time or if the training version changes or not at all are then decided. Class session management allows keeping track of classes, attendance, no-shows etc. Each employee’s training history also can be reviewed, printed out, any time it is required to confirm compliance with the annual training plan. The package has an easy to use interface with menus and icons that are self explanatory. Navigating through the application to derive the reports; be it the menu-card of courses on offer, courses currently scheduled, employees training assignments etc is fairly uncomplicated. Cons: With built in databases the nagging doubt is always about how would it scale up for larger organizations as also for an organization growing up over time. In general, this may be alright for small organizations. But it is good to be able to connect to some standard RDMS of the organization. A distributed organization would be more natural to integrate this application into other operations of the enterprise. This kind of an application is an extension of HR functions and as such needs to operate with other HR functions at a minimum. Overall: Given the limitations above and that the internal database can stand up to the pressures of the organization’s size, this is an easy to use, generally well organized application. It is rated at 4 stars. Publisher's description:
