The Ping Master Description

The Ping Master package provides a Windows Service that will periodically send a ping request to a set of network addresses, log the result, and allow another executable to be run in response to either success or failure. For example maybe you want to restart a VPN service or send an email to an administrator. You configure the service with a simple GUI tool that is included in the installer. Main features: Configuration parameters Test Interval: The time, in seconds, between tests of the addresses. Timeout: The time allowed for a response from a ping before it is deemed to have failed. Retry attempts before failure: The number of times a ping to a given address should be allowed to fail before giving up and signalling a failure. Retry on network exception: Some errors such as invalid addresses throw exceptions when you attempt to ping them. If you are getting a repeated failure but don't know why try turning this off and you'll get an error in the log. When on the exception is treated in the same way as an issue such as a timeout. Success Command: If specified then this application will be run when an address is successfully pinged. Note that the account the service runs under must be able to run the application. Success Command Parameters: Any parameters you want to supply to the success command. Failure Command: If specified then this application will be run when an address cannot be pinged. Note that the account the service runs under must be able to run the application. Failure Command Parameters: Any parameters you want to supply to the failure command. Addresses: Use the add and remove button to add addresses to the list to be pinged.
