Editor's review: This is an application that helps import scanned images from TWAIN compliant scanners into TWAIN compliant applications. TwainImporter helps avoid using expensive hardware scanners. It is a virtual driver that lets you import images into Twain compliant scan application. It is available as 32-bit and 64-bit driver and thus works with both versions of Windows. Image formats and compressions supported include PDF, including text PDF, image PDF and image plus text PDF documents, TIFF (including multipage), JPEG, JPEG 2000, PNG, GIF, Bitmap, ICO, TGA, PCX, and WMF. This tool can make working with multifunctional devices (MFP), Network Scanners, E-mails etc. Exporting images to a customer`s notebook or importing images from MS SharePoint shared folders, images from digital cameras or for inserting multiple images to MS Word are other features that ease your work. The interface is quite intuitive and is tabbed, grouping related functions on one display page. The tabs include folder, image enhancement, settings etc. The image enhancement includes enhancements to the images as and when required. These enhancements can help improve OCR accuracy, if that is what is planned as the next step in the process. Overall the interface design is simple and pleasing. The scanning features will help working with devices that have TWAIN interface.
