SoundScriber Description

The transcription of recorded texts may seem like an easy job for many, but for professionals, who need to write down as fast as possible and with maximum accuracy a speech, for example, this would not be possible without a specialized program. Among the tools dedicated to this purpose, SoundScriber aims to make transcribing an easier task for anyone, even for beginners. Through a very practical interface, this application manages to provide a handful of functions that, surprisingly enough, can prove sufficient for obtaining optimal efficiency. The most coveted feature of SoundScriber is the ability to 'walk' through a recording and allow the listener to have the 'steps' retraced automatically. To do so, you will have to establish the number of walk loops, which can reach up to 10. This means that a specific amount of the audio file is played, then rewound automatically and played again as many times as you set it. Using the 'Backspace' slider, you have the possibility to choose an amount of time, ranging from 1 to 10 seconds and with half-second intervals, that will become the measure for a single so-called 'walk'. In an identical manner you will be able to configure how many seconds SoundScriber should rewind when restoring the playback after a pause is removed. Another function that is most useful in case you have to deal with really fast or really slow speaking persons is the 'Speed Control'. By moving the indicator from the default position (0 is for normal speed), you can make the recording speed up or slow down to a pace that you find comfortable. As one would expect from such an app, it is possible to control it through hotkeys, which in turn are customizable. You can also set bookmarks and, especially useful for longer recordings, move directly to a specific time with the 'Jump to location' function. All things considered, SoundScriber deserves a spot among the top applications one can try when looking for a software for transcribing audio recordings.
