Socusoft Photo to Video Converter is a program with a pretty self-explanatory name - it allows you to turn image files (such as JPG and PNG) into videos (MPEG), by creating albums. The interface of the application is easy to work with. Thanks to the Explorer-based layout, you can seamlessly locate images, as well as import them into the storyboard by using the 'drag and drop' functionality. So, you can add transition effects (e.g. bar wipe, star) and background music, as well as set the duration of transitions, photos, slideshow and audio. But you can also change the default background color, trim songs and apply a fade effect, loop audio, preview the album and prepare it for iPod (MP4, MP2), as well as configure audio and video settings regarding the codec, size, bit rate, frame rate, sample rate and channel mode for the movie. The project can be saved to the hard drive for further editing. Plus, you can add captions and blank images, rotate photographs and randomize the slide order, record sound and modify the GUI language, just to name a few of Socusoft Photo to Video Converter's features. From the 'Options' screen you can alter the default temporary folder and clean up drives, as well as disable some aforementioned features available in the interface (e.g. fade, loop). Settings can be restored to their default values. The program runs on a moderate amount of CPU and system memory, has a good response time, contains user's guide and delivers videos with a good image and sound quality. We have not encountered any problems throughout our evaluation; Socusoft Photo to Video Converter did not freeze, crash or pop up error dialogs. First-time users may need some time to get familiarized with the environment, since the app's layout is not particularly organized in a user-friendly manner.
