Side-oku Description

Side-oku is a lightweight gadget built specifically for helping users play the logic-based, combinatorial number-placement puzzle, called Sudoku. It was designed with an overall simplicity in mind, so it doesn’t offer support for many dedicated parameters. The objective of the game is to fill in each row and column for a 9X9 grid in order to contain all of the digits from 1 to 9. You are allowed to select the desired number from the bottom row embedded in the main window, mark or enter the numbers, as well as remove the numbers. The widget enables you to select the desired difficulty level (it offers support for seven options), make the tool show errors, as well as check the “How to Play” panel for information about the gaming process. Additional options give users the possibility to select the size of the gadget (small or large), choose the opacity level, as well as make the tool remain on top of other utilities. Plus, you are allowed to move the widget to any area of the screen. During our testing we have noticed that the widget accomplishes a task very quickly and without errors throughout the entire process. As it would be expected from such a small utility, it remains light on the system resources, so it doesn’t hamper computer performance, nor interfere with other programs’ functionality. To sum things up, Side-oku proves to be a simple-to-use desktop enhancement utility that offers an interactive software solution for helping you play the Sudoku game. It can be easily installed and configured by all types of users, regardless of their experience level. Reviewed by Ana Marculescu, last updated on February 15th, 2014
