Shock View Description

Shock View is a small application that enables you to view and edit image files. The user interface of the program is intuitive, thanks to the Explorer-based layout. Thus, you can preview an image in a small window on the bottom left corner of the screen, view its actual size, zoom in and out. You can also switch to full screen, comic or slideshow mode. In addition, you can check out file information and a histogram, set an image as wallpaper, change the viewing mode (thumbnail, icon, small icon, report) and add borders, clip art and text (select the size and configure saving options). Furthermore, you can apply various filters (e.g. brightness, contrast, grayscale, saturation, sharpness, oil painting), rotate the image (e.g. left or right, flip, rotate EXIF, rotate by any degree), remove red eye, resize, crop and link. Plus, you can create a GIF animation from multiple images, convert the format of the pictures (BMP, JPEG, GIF, PCX, PNG, TGA, TIFF, RAW), compare images and batch rename them, and more. In the "Option" menu you can set the background color of the interface, select image information display mode, apply a full screen filer, set slideshow delay, choose the thumbnail size and cache path, select default output location, and more. The program uses a moderate amount of system resources and didn't freeze, crash or pop up errors during our tests. However, you cannot access a help file and this can be disappointing to first-time users. Nonetheless, Shock View is actually a very good tool for viewing and editing pictures and we strongly recommend it to all users. Reviewed by Elena Opris, last updated on April 24th, 2013
