Shinesoft Video Converter is a multi-format video converter. It features a generic but intuitive user interface, complete with a video player that allows you to preview your files before conversion. The application makes use of several conversion profiles and it has a video cutter. First of all, in my testing, this application failed to open three different types of files: MKV, MP4 and Xvid AVI. The app didn't even ask me to use FFdshow to decode the files, so I don't think the error is due to the lack of codecs. Whenever I opened a file and selected a format for conversion and started the process, the status of the file would go from "Ready" to "Failed". There weren't any explanations or error messages. The video player could play the files, but audio and video were out of sync. May be it is the trial limitation. In terms of format support, if it worked, this application has support for quite a few formats. There is a drop-down list of all the supported profiles. There are some for mobile devices, gaming consoles, Apple hardware and iPods and common audio and video formats. There is even support for HD formats. All in all, if this app had worked for me, its simple interface and good format support would have made it a good converter. José Fernández Editor rating:
