SharePoint RegEx Search Description

The SharePoint RegEx Search was designed to be a small tool that performs "regular expression" based search over Microsoft Office documents stored in a SharePoint site. It's ideal for security analysts who want to ensure that sensitive data, such as Social Security Numbers and passwords, are not exposed via open repositories. It's also useful for performing any kind of search that's not exposed by the built-in SharePoint search capabilities, which are limited to the SQL 'LIKE' and 'CONTAINS' keywords. The tool is command-line based and written in C#. It works against standard Windows SharePoint Services (WSS), but it's likely to be more useful in environments running Microsoft Office SharePoint Server (MOSS). Search results are displayed in CSV format and consist of the matched string as well as the full path of the document in which it was found. Currently supported document types include Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
