Screeny Professional is a versatile and full-featured screen capture tool that will allow you to take snapshots of your desktop in a variety of ways. You can also record any activity taking place on your desktop and convert, edit, or simply view your images and videos without leaving the program. Screeny allows you to select specific areas or to let it select specific elements for you in a more precise way. Thus, you can tell the program which area you wish to capture, and use different shapes to delimit it (rectangles, circles, and polygons), select a specific object on the screen, and even define a scrollable area. You can also use windows to define the program’s workspace – any window, the client window, all windows on the screen, the entire desktop, or a pull-down menu with all its submenus and options. Finally, you can activate the video recorder to grab your entire desktop’s activity in a high-quality video file, complete with background audio, cursor movements, etc. An excellent extra utility that comes with Screeny is the Whiteboard – this tool will let you draw shapes, arrows, lines, circles, rectangles, and even write text on your screen to help you with your presentations or tutorials. Another extra tool worth mentioning is the Dia Show, an image viewer that will let you browse and view your captures (or any other set of image files) as a slide show. The only really urgent thing left for the developers to do is to finish the program’s translation into English as there are still too many labels and explanations in German not to be comfortable to use for non-German speakers.
