Screen Shoot Description

Screen Shoot is a tiny and portable Windows application that gives users the possibility of automatically saving full screen grabs, in order to speed up the entire process when taking multiple shots quickly. It contains standard settings that are easy to configure by any type of users, even the ones with little or no prior experience in computer software. Since installation is not a requirement, you can drop the executable file to any location on the HDD and just click it to run. Another option is to save a copy of Screen Shoot to a pen drive or other external storage unit, in order to use it on any PC with minimum effort and without installing anything beforehand. What's more, the tool does not create new entries in the Windows registry, Start menu or any other part of the disk, leaving no traces behind after removal. The interface is based on a regular window with an intuitive structure. Once started, the app takes over the PrintScreen key and records all captured images in a list in the main frame. It does not automatically save all files to the hard drive. Instead, it lets you select the exact items you want to keep, and save them with the click of a button. The mouse cursor is not included. There are four output file s that you can choose from: JPEG, PNG, BMP and GIF, in addition to specifying the saving directory, along with a sequence label. We have noticed some small downsides, though. The sequence label does not seem to affect the output file names in any way, as Screen Shoot uses a long string of numbers that are unrelated to this label. Moreover, there is no option to switch between multiple viewing modes (e.g. list or detailed view, just like in Windows Explorer), nor to remove selected entries to the list, to better organize it before saving the pictures. Nevertheless, we have not come across any technical issues throughout our tests, as the app did not hang, crash or pop up error dialogs. It is very responsive to commands and consumes low CPU and RAM, so it does not affect the PC's overall performance. Although it cannot be sent to the system tray area, it can be minimized to the taskbar. It has some drawbacks but Screen Shoot is a straightforward screen grabber for capturing multiple shots in a row. We should also keep in mind that it has not been updated for a long time.
