Screen OCR Description

Uses optical character recognition technology to identify anything written on your screen and convert it into editable texts. Works with photos, secure PDF documents, copy-protected websites, etc. Screen OCR is a tool that can copy text or graphics from anywhere on the screen. The application sits on the system tray and can be called at any moment. It has quite a few capturing methods and it uses the font databases in your system to recognize text. I can think of quite a few uses for an application like this. In my work field, I often have to recognize documents and many times, I see PDF files that are scans of printed text. Using this application, I could simply select the area of the PDF that I want to recognize and do it. Screen OCR should work well for that purpose because the text is often printed, using Arial or Times New Roman. However, Screen OCR seems to be limited to the screen, since you have to create an area by dragging your mouse. This would make it hard for me to recognize a multi-page document. But that is just one of the uses I thought of. You could use it to copy text from websites that don't allow you to copy or select text. In my testing, the application performed beautifully. I could copy text from a PDF file that didn't allow me to copy or even select text. The text was identical to that of the PDF file. José Fernández Editor rating:
