The movie was released on August 5, 2011 and is the seventh movie in the Planet of the Apes series (including the original as well as the remakes). However, it is not a sequel but a reboot and tells about the rebellion of the apes. The tagline of the movie mentions “evolution becomes revolution” and that is the idea behind the movie. The plot of the movie is set in present day San Francisco, where a young scientist’s experiments with genetic engineering lead to the development of intelligence in apes. This results in a fight for supremacy between apes (with their newly found intelligence) and humans. The movie is directed by Rupert Wyatt. James Franco of “Spiderman series” fame is the male lead while Freida Pinto of “Slumdog Millionaire” fame is the female lead. The lead ape protagonist “Caeser” is played and voiced by “Andy Serkis” who had also played the character of “Gollum” in the Lord of the Rings triology and the title role of “King Kong” in the 2005 movie King Kong. Rise of the Planet of the Apes is an awesome movie and is receiving rave reviews everywhere. The movie has even got a massive rating of 8 out of 10 with more than 16,000 votes as of Now on IMDB.
