Recover My Files Description

video prev next Data loss can happen from many reasons and can affect from individual files to entire partitions and drives. Recover My Files has been designed to address both scenarios in a simple, stress-free way by offering you a wizard-driven recovery process capable of detecting and bringing back to life your valuable data in a few easy steps. The wizard will ask you to make a number of choices in order to narrow your search and thus speed up the recovery process as much as possible while making it more efficient. The first choice is simple – do you need to recover a specific file or directory or is it the whole drive that needs fixing? The latter is the simplest option, and all you have to do is choose the drive you wish to recover. As for the former, first you’ll be asked to select the storage device or drive where you stored your data, and then the type of search you want the program to perform. Here you can choose to search for a specific file or to look for certain “file headers” or file types (music, e-mail, databases and financials, documents, etc.). Once the search is over, you’ll be presented with all the deleted files that follow your preferences, though that doesn’t mean that all of them can be effectively recovered. Some of them will carry a red mark, meaning that though Recovery My Files has found logical information about the file or directory, no recoverable data has been found. You can check the integrity of the data by making use of the various preview options provided – if none of them seem to work, chances are that the file in question is lost forever. Once you’ve made a preliminary check of the integrity of the items you wish to recover, all you need to do is check them and click on the Start Recovery button. Note, however, that the evaluation version used for this review will refuse to recover any data unless you purchase the corresponding license, which makes it impossible to evaluate how efficient Recover My Files really is without paying for it. The only conclusions you can reach by using this trial version refer solely to the usability of the program and the convenience or not of its wizard-based interface. Once again, we are offered an “evaluation tool” whose extreme limitations clearly defeat the purpose. Thus, buying the program expecting it to bring back to life your lost files or drives efficiently is but a leap of faith. Francisco Martínez Editor rating:
