This program is a simple yet powerful DVD ripper and audio extractor. RER DVD Ripper supports a wide variety of audio and video output formats. It is designed for both the novice and the expert user, as it can work in simple and advanced modes. It also includes a toolbar that allows you to select your desired output format with one click. The program's user interface is very clear and intuitive. However, its visual design might be tiring to many people, and can be largely improved. It allows you to choose the desired output format from the above-mentioned toolbar, and load your source movies from DVD discs, folders, and even from IFO files. In addition, you can customize your output folder, and pick one of the profiles available for the output format selected. You can even personalize a given profile by tweaking the values of certain parameters, such as the video compression codec, the video bit rate, the frame rate, the display aspect, and the audio bit and sample rates. As an example, the AVI output format offers you predefined profiles for Windows Media Player, HD Video, DVD Player, Xbox, and PS3. The program also allows you to select your preferred audio and subtitle tracks, in case more than one are available. You can also switch to “Advanced mode”, where an extra panel is displayed showing all the video and audio properties of both the source and output files, such as the file type, the TV system, the bit rate, the frame size, the audio format and frequency, and many more. In order to use the program as an audio extractor, you need to choose "To Audio" as the output format, and then one of the codecs supported, which include MP3, MP4, WMA, Ogg, AC3, and WAV. Once your entire configuration is ready, you can start the process by pressing the "Convert" button. The program performs the task at a very good speed, and yields high-quality results.
