Processor Renamer is a small-sized and portable software utility that you can use to rename your CPU, as the name suggests. It does not comprise additional options or configuration parameters, so it can be handled even by those with little or no prior experience in software utilities. Since installation is not a prerequisite, you can drop the executable file in any location on the hard disk and just click it to run. There is also the possibility of saving Processor Renamer to a USB flash disk or similar storage unit, in order to run it on any PC with minimum effort and no previous installers. What's more, the app does not create new entries in the Windows registry, nor additional files on the hard drive, leaving no traces behind after its removal. The UI is represented by a single window with a simple structure, where a list with all known processor names is shown at startup. So, all you have to do is select an entry from this list and apply the new changes with the click of a button. There are no other options available. For example, you cannot restore settings to default. The app does not put a strain on computer performance, as it runs on low CPU and RAM. It has a good response time and works fine, without causing the OS to hang, crash or pop up error dialogs. However, Processor Renamer has not been updated for a while, and does not offer the possibility of changing the CPU's name into something custom.
