Pop3 Agent Description

Pop3 Agent is both an email notifier and client-side spam blocking tool for Windows 98/2000/XP platforms. Pop3 Agent will run as autonomous background process between your e-mail client and one or several pop3 servers. Pop3 Agent checks for new mail in defined intervals and classifies incoming emails based on a combination of methods: · Black- and whitelists · Self learning Bayesian filter · Rule based filterEmails identified as spam are backed up locally and deleted from the server - automatically or after confirmationThe installation is quite straight forward: Download and execute the installer package. The installer copies the required binaries into your 'program files' folder, adds shortcuts to Pop3Agent.exe in Windows Start Menu and Startup folder and provides an uninstaller. As compared to the Pop3 Agent BIN package the installer includes additional sound files. Pop3 Agent comes with an embedded Firebird database server. However, if you wish to use an external Interbase or Firebird server already running somewhere in your environment, you certainly can do so. Just follow these steps: · Make sure you have installed an Interbase or Firebird client (gds32.dll) on your computer (located e.g. in c:winntsystem32). · Stop Pop3 Agent. · Change into the c:program filespop3agent folder and rename gds32.dll into gds32.sav and ib_util.dll into ib_util.sav. · Move the .dbpop3agent.gdb file into the database folder on your remote machine. · Open the pop3agent.ini file with a text editor and change the entries DBUser, DBPass, DB and FBEmbedded (see example). · Open the pop3agent.ini file with a text editor and change the entries DBUser, DBPass, DB and FBEmbedded (see example). · Restart Pop3 Agent
